It is never too early to benefit from cognitive-behavioral strategies.

Therapy with children and adolescents requires developmental knowledge and special consideration of social context. I have focused on pediatric intervention throughout my career and have worked with children as young at three years old. Anxiety is part of life and can be developmentally normative. However, when it creates problems or is particularly distressing, it is time to learn skills and parenting strategies to help manage it.

While I bring clinical and developmental knowledge, you are the expert on your child. Parents are highly involved in a collaborative therapy process, and with very young children sessions may be primarily parent-coaching. I work to help parents feel ready and able to serve as coach, adovocate, and support for their child.

Tweens and adolescents often benefit from space to discuss thoughts and feelings without parents present, which I am happy to provide. With that said, parents continue to be highly involved, with each session including a parent check-in portion. I always appraise parents of treatment strategies and progress.
